Theresa Jones Biography

More than a decade ago Theresa developed an interest in contemporary art and impressionism, and was initially self-taught. While studying under Graham Painter her work developed a unique and candid style, working with emotive and bold pastel palette. Theresa has since been influenced by the work of United States's Wolf Kahn and United Kingdom's Ken Howard.

The work maintained a level of detail, and evolved with the movement away from the Hampshire landscape where she was based. Theresa developed into oil and acrylic, increasing the range and scope of the landscape compositions and the construction of a studio in St Ives in Cornwall, has enabled her to encapsulate the range of seasons by the sea.

In New Orleans the music and sights of the city inspired Theresa to create a sense of the mood of the French Quarter with attention to form over light. These images reflect the performance of the musicians and create a sense of their life and environs with the use of vignettes and the bold use of texture.
